HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Harold Ray Ponder of Hammond, who passed away on October 26, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Harold Ray Ponder was born on December 12, 1944 in Decatur, the son of Ray and Maude Eskridge Ponder; he married Katana Sue Flanagan on April 12, 1973 in Arcola; and

WHEREAS, He was a farmer and sold crop insurance for CF&H Insurance; he was the former mayor of Hammond; he was a former member and past president of the Atwood-Hammond School Board; he served on the Hammond Mutual Drainage District Board; Mr. Ponder formerly owned and operated Ponder Seed Company; and he was a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Harold Ray Ponder is survived by his wife, Katana; his sons, James Ponder and his wife, Jennifer and Josh Ponder and his wife, Becky; his daughter, Kris Wagner and her husband, Calvin; his brother, Joe Ponder; and his granddaughters, Alex and Gabrielle; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Harold Ray Ponder; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Ray Ponder as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
