HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Men and women of all faiths, backgrounds, and ethnicities have come to the defense of the United States during times of war; and

WHEREAS, During World War II, many African-Americans served with courage and dignity as members of the United States Armed Forces, including many who served in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, The security and prosperity of our nation and all free nations throughout the world is due, in large part, to the noble actions and incredible bravery of our veterans; and

WHEREAS, The Trinity African American Episcopal Church in Waukegan will host a salute to African-American veterans of the United States Navy during World War II and military personnel of all wars during a ceremony on March 21, 2010; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the African-American veterans of the United States Navy during World War II and U.S. military personnel of all wars for their great courage and noble sacrifices during times of war; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Trinity African American Episcopal Church in Waukegan as a symbol of our esteem and respect for the brave men and women who have served our nation.
