SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
65 ILCS 5/11-5-7.1  from Ch. 24, par. 11-5-7.1

    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that a municipality with a population between 9,000 and 30,000 (instead of 25,000) that lies within a single county with a population between 400,000 and 575,000 may levy an annual tax for ambulance services. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5changing Section 11-5-7.1 as follows:
 
6    (65 ILCS 5/11-5-7.1)  (from Ch. 24, par. 11-5-7.1)
7    Sec. 11-5-7.1. The corporate authorities of any
8municipality which: (1) has a population between 10,000 and
945,000 and lies within 2 counties with respective populations
10between 400,000 and 575,000 and between 900,000 and 1,000,000;
11or (2) has a population between 9,000 and 30,000 25,000 and
12lies within a single county with a population between 400,000
13and 575,000, may levy an annual tax at a rate not exceeding
14.095% of the value, as equalized and assessed by the Department
15of Revenue, of all taxable property therein, for the purpose of
16providing ambulance services pursuant to an intergovernmental
17cooperation agreement with any other unit of local government.
18However, no tax may be levied pursuant to this Section with
19respect to any property which is subject to any other tax
20levied for the purpose of providing ambulance services.
