SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

815 ILCS 120/7 new

Amends the Illinois Fairness in Lending Act. Provides that no financial institution or other entity whose business includes engaging in residential real estate-related transactions may discriminate against any person in making available such a transaction, or in the terms or conditions of such a transaction, on the basis that the person is pregnant.

AN ACT concerning business.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Fairness in Lending Act is amended by adding Section 7 as follows:

(815 ILCS 120/7 new)

Sec. 7. Familial status; residential real estate-related transactions. No financial institution or other entity whose business includes engaging in residential real estate-related transactions may discriminate against any person in making available such a transaction, or in the terms or conditions of such a transaction, on the basis that the person is pregnant.

For the purpose of this Section, "residential real estate-related transaction" means the making or purchasing of loans (i) for purchasing, constructing, improving, repairing, or maintaining a dwelling or (ii) that are secured by residential real estate.
