SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 410/3-7.1   from Ch. 111, par. 1703-7.1

    Amends the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Technology Act of 1985. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the inactive status of the license of a cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology clinic teacher.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail
5 Technology Act of 1985 is amended by changing Section 3-7.1 as
6 follows:
 
7     (225 ILCS 410/3-7.1)  (from Ch. 111, par. 1703-7.1)
8     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2016)
9     Sec. 3-7.1. Inactive Status. Any cosmetologist,
10 cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology clinic teacher who
11 notifies the the Department in writing on forms prescribed by
12 the Department, may elect to place his or her license on an
13 inactive status and shall, subject to rules of the Department,
14 be excused from payment of renewal fees until he or she
15 notifies the Department in writing of his or her desire to
16 resume active status.
17     Any cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology
18 clinic teacher requesting restoration from inactive status
19 shall be required to pay the current renewal fee and to qualify
20 for the restoration of his or her license, subject to rules of
21 the Department. A license shall not be restored from inactive
22 status unless the cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or
23 cosmetology clinic teacher requesting the restoration

1 completes the number of hours of continuing education required
2 for renewal of a license under Section 3-7.
3     Any cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology
4 clinic teacher whose license is in an inactive status shall not
5 practice in the State of Illinois.
