SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joyce O'Neil of Lockport/Homer Glen, who
4passed away on June 26, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil was born to Louis A. and Rose M.
6(Talarico) Fondriest on November 11, 1933; she graduated from
7Joliet Township High School in 1952, where she served as
8treasurer and as a member of the class reunion planning
9committee; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil and her husband, Patrick O'Neil,
11opened O'Neil Funeral Home in Lockport in 1972, and she worked
12there up until a few months before her death; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil was dedicated to St. Joseph Catholic
14Parish in Lockport and to St. Joseph School; she and her
15husband were also active at Providence Catholic High School for
16many years; the last few years, she attended daily Mass at Our
17Mother of Good Council in Homer Glen; she was a member of the
18St. Joseph Church Senior Citizen's Club, the Lockport Women's
19Club, and the American Italian Cultural Society in Crest Hill;
20not one to sit still, she enjoyed shopping, meeting up with
21friends, volunteering for the Women's Club, serving spaghetti
22at the American Italian Cultural Society, lending a hand to her

1nieces and nephews, and attending the sporting events and
2school functions of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
3she was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the Chicago
4Cubs; she listened to many Joliet Slammer baseball games and
5Chicago Bears football games on the radio; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil was preceded in death by her husband,
7Patrick; her parents; and her O'Neil family brothers-in-law and
8sisters-in-law; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil is survived by her children, Kimberly
10A. (Edward) Golob and Patrick K. (Jennifer) O'Neil; her
11grandchildren, Bradley Edward (Tabitha) Golob, Erin Colleen
12(Donna) Allison, Shannon Patrick (fiance Ashley Grotto), Shae
13Marie, and Ryan Patrick O'Neil; her great-grandchildren,
14Nathanael Thomas McCurrie, Abigail McKenzie Golob, Jacob
15Anthony Allison, and Carter Patrick Allison; her sister,
16Patricia (William) Kettman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
17dear friends; and the staff members and their families of
18O'Neil Funeral Home; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Joyce O'Neil and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
22friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

2presented to the family of Joyce O'Neil as an expression of our
3deepest sympathy.
