SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joyce O'Neil of Lockport/Homer Glen, who passed away on June 26, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil was born to Louis A. and Rose M. (Talarico) Fondriest on November 11, 1933; she graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1952, where she served as treasurer and as a member of the class reunion planning committee; and

WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil and her husband, Patrick O'Neil, opened O'Neil Funeral Home in Lockport in 1972, and she worked there up until a few months before her death; and

WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil was dedicated to St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Lockport and to St. Joseph School; she and her husband were also active at Providence Catholic High School for many years; the last few years, she attended daily Mass at Our Mother of Good Council in Homer Glen; she was a member of the St. Joseph Church Senior Citizen's Club, the Lockport Women's Club, and the American Italian Cultural Society in Crest Hill; not one to sit still, she enjoyed shopping, meeting up with friends, volunteering for the Women's Club, serving spaghetti at the American Italian Cultural Society, lending a hand to her nieces and nephews, and attending the sporting events and school functions of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; she listened to many Joliet Slammer baseball games and Chicago Bears football games on the radio; and

WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; her parents; and her O'Neil family brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and

WHEREAS, Joyce O'Neil is survived by her children, Kimberly A. (Edward) Golob and Patrick K. (Jennifer) O'Neil; her grandchildren, Bradley Edward (Tabitha) Golob, Erin Colleen (Donna) Allison, Shannon Patrick (fiance Ashley Grotto), Shae Marie, and Ryan Patrick O'Neil; her great-grandchildren, Nathanael Thomas McCurrie, Abigail McKenzie Golob, Jacob Anthony Allison, and Carter Patrick Allison; her sister, Patricia (William) Kettman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; and the staff members and their families of O'Neil Funeral Home; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joyce O'Neil and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joyce O'Neil as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
