SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bruce Anthony Swopes of Rockford (formerly of North Chicago), who passed away on February 11, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Anthony Swopes was born in Waukegan on June 10, 1956 to Chester A. and Chessie B. (Cole) Swopes; and

WHEREAS, He joined Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church in 1973; he also attended North Chicago High School; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Chester A. Swopes; his mother, Chessie B. Cole-Swopes; his eldest brother, Chester A. Swopes Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Willie B. Hayes; his paternal grandmother, Annie B. Fisher; and his paternal grandfather, Ernest Swopes; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Swopes is survived by his Ma Mary (stepmother), Mary Swopes; his siblings, Leotis "Joe" (Polly) Swopes, Alice Sherrod, Ernest J. Swopes, Carl E. Swopes, Aaron W. Swopes, Louise (Willie) Harris, and Diane (Mark) Washington; his several nieces and nephews and many other great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunties, and extended family members; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Bruce Swopes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bruce Swopes as a symbol of our sympathy.
