SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Henry L. Cotter, who passed away on
4 September 16, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on December 8, 1917 in Alton, the son
6 of Henry Snow & Henritta (Sworts) Cotter; he married Ruth
7 Elizabeth Mutschler on July 3, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He served his country with the United States Army
9 during World War II and was stationed in France and England
10 during the European Theatre; he was a lifetime member of the
11 Alton VFW Post 1308; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of Saints Peter & Paul
13 Catholic Church in Alton where he served as an altar boy and
14 usher; he retired in 1980 after 42 years of service as a pipe
15 fitter for Shell Oil Company; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Henry L. Cotter is survived by his wife, Ruth; his
18 son and daughter-in-law, Arthur & Pamela (Galligos) Cotter; his
19 daughters, Susan Cotter and Elizabeth Keister; his
20 grandchildren, Scott and Todd Link, Molly and Katie Keister,

1 Angela Pekarik, and Adam and Kevin Cotter; his great
2 grandchildren, Kaleigh and Alexis Pekarik and Trent Alan
3 Neaderhiser; and his special friend, Bill Heintz; therefore, be
4 it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 his family and friends, the passing of Henry Cotter; and be it
8 further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Henry Cotter as a symbol of our
11 sincere sympathy.
