SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John A. Mitchell of Crystal Lake, who
4 passed away on July 11, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, John A. Mitchell was born on June 19, 1928; his
6 parents were Arnold and Anna Mitchell; he married Jeanne Zoia
7 on April 23, 1949 in Woodstock; and
 
8     WHEREAS, John A. Mitchell was involved in the automobile
9 business for more than 60 years; soon after attending Crystal
10 Lake High School, he went to work for Overton Chevrolet in
11 Crystal Lake; the dealership later became Reichert Chevrolet,
12 where he worked his way up to the position of general manager;
13 and
 
14     WHEREAS, In 1970, John A. Mitchell fulfilled his lifelong
15 dream of opening his own new car dealership, Mitchell Buick
16 Olds in McHenry; during his 60-year automotive career, he also
17 owned other dealerships, including Mitchell Chevrolet in
18 Marengo, Mitchell AMC Jeep in McHenry, and Mitchell Lincoln
19 Mercury in McHenry, as well as several used car dealerships and
20 an auto body shop; and
 
21     WHEREAS, John A. Mitchell was preceded in death by his

1 parents; his brother, Arnold (Bud); and his sister, Rita; and
 
2     WHEREAS, John A. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Jeanne;
3 his six daughters, who were his pride and joy, Patricia
4 Prentice, Irene (John) Golbeck, Mary (Phil) Grant, Janet (Tony)
5 Balchunas, Kay (Tim) Benoy, and Maureen (Rick) Benoy; his 13
6 grandchildren, Gene and Anna Prentice, Jennifer and Tom
7 Golbeck, Sue and Mike Grant, Jon and Brittany Balchunas, and
8 Natalie, Stephanie, Steve, Matt, and Kristi Benoy; his five
9 great-grandchildren, Morgan, MacKinzie, and Mason Prentice,
10 and Kaitlyn and Emily Golbeck; and his sister, Colette
11 Pindersk; and
 
12     WHEREAS, John A. Mitchell will be remembered by all who
13 knew and loved him as an honest and effective community and
14 civic leader and as a loving and caring grandfather; therefore,
15 be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18 his family and friends, the passing of John A. Mitchell; and be
19 it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of John A. Mitchell as an expression of
22 our sympathy.
