SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Allen" Meyer of Buffalo Grove, who passed away on June 22, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was born on June 27, 1950 in Lander, Wyoming; his parents were Robert and Georgie Meyer; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was a graduate of Lake Stevens High School; he earned his Master of Library Science degree at Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer had a lifelong career working in libraries; he began working at the Vernon Area Public Library District in 1985 as a Children's Librarian; he became the district director for the Vernon Area Public Library in 1985, where he was known as a capable and effective administrator; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was a driving force in the successful management of the building expansion of the Vernon Area Library facility; his hard work and leadership were instrumental in the passage of a new building referendum; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was a member of Willow Creek Church in South Barrington; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer loved to visit his family on the West Coast; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Georgie Meyer, and his brothers, Charles, William, and David Meyer; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer is survived by his life partner, Jeff Honokaupu; his brothers and sisters, Sue (Pat) Welch, Anne Behnke, Cindy (Bill) Short, Mary Kingery, John (Patsy) Meyer, Paul (Karin) Meyer, and Dan Meyer; and his sister-in-law, Meg Meyer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert "Allen" Meyer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert "Allen" Meyer as an expression of our sympathy.
