SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Albert Woods of Alton, who passed away on
4 June 22, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Albert Woods was born July 2, 1935, in St. Louis,
6 the son of the Reverend Perry and Mosetta (Brooks) Woods Sr.;
7 he was united in holy matrimony to Nora (Hyndman) Woods in
8 Clayton, Missouri on May 18, 1963; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He received his education in St. Louis; he was
10 employed in the transportation department with Olin
11 Corporation in East Alton; he was a veteran of the United
12 States Navy, and received an honorable discharge; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He attended Saint James Missionary Baptist
14 Church; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his
16 three sisters, Mae Ella Moore, Nellie Cosby, and Eleanor
17 LaGrone; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Albert Woods is survived by his wife, Nora; his
19 two sons, Albert Darnell (Kim) Woods and Raymond "Matt"
20 (Jackie) Woods; his two daughters, Laura Anne (Carl) Ellington

1 and Valeria Lynn Woods; his thirteen grandchildren, Candice,
2 Alaina, Albert "A.J.," Cameron, Rayven, Raynada, Justin, Kyle,
3 Makayla, Bridget, Malcom, Chrissy, and Germaine; his six
4 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ruby Brooks, Luella Woods,
5 and Melcine (Johnnie) Henderson; his brothers, Joseph (Carol)
6 Woods and Perry (Alfreda) Woods Jr.; his special sons, Gillis
7 Brooks, Robert Franklin Jr., Courtney Slack, Gary Ammons, and
8 Andre Banks; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Margie
9 Cannon, Marion Pennman, Jenny (Robert) Franklin, and Eveylyn
10 (Harold) Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
11 friends; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Albert Woods; and be it
15 further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Albert Woods as a symbol of our
18 sympathy.
