SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Raich Jr. of Roxana, who passed away on May 31, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. was born on May 17, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri; his parents were Charles and Anna (Gromacha) Raich; he married the former Margaret Ann Busch on May 23, 1959 in Branson, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. attended Roosevelt High School in St. Louis; after earning his bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University, he went on to obtain his master's degree from the University of Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. served as a teacher and coach at Calhoun High School from 1958 to 1963; he then served as a teacher and coach, and later assistant principal, at Roxana High School from 1963 to 1997; after his retirement, he continued volunteering with youth athletics; and

WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Charles Leo Raich; and

WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. is survived by his wife; his daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Tom Elmore, Debbie and Robert Brusewitz, Wendy and Scott Brown, and Katie and Mitch Kemner; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Misty Raich; his grandchildren, Marcie and Joe Hay, Zach, Hannah, and Seth Brusewitz, Matthew and Christopher Brown, Sabastian and Terran Raich, and Mitchell and James Kemner; his stepsister, Marie Steinman; his brother, Steve Raich; and his nephews, Charlie and Steve Raich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Charles Raich Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Raich Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
