SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Allen J. Nelson Jr., formerly of Lake Bluff, who passed away on December 9, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was born on March 28, 1934 in Chicago; his parents were Allen J. Sr. and Martha E. (Popp) Nelson; and

WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria and Loyola University in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1994 in both active and reserve service; at the time of his retirement, he held the rank of commander; and

WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. spent most of his professional career working as a Systems Analyst; he was employed by the State of Illinois as a student loans compliance auditor prior to his retirement in 1998; and

WHEREAS, While residing in Lake Bluff, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was an active member of St. Mary's Parish (Lake Forest), the Knights of Columbus, and the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Kiwanis Club; and

WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Ann (Kirklighter) and his son, Paul; and

WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. is survived by his son, Allen J. Nelson III; his daughter, Patricia A. Nelson; his granddaughters, Ashley and Alex Nelson; and his sister, Janice (John) Schnobrich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Allen J. Nelson Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Allen J. Nelson Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
