SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of James A. Murphy, formerly of Geneva and
4 West Chicago, who passed away on March 11, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James A. Murphy was born on February 28, 1928 in
6 Aurora; he was the son of John A. and Florence (Reiser) Murphy;
7 he married Marlene Johnson in 1954 during a ceremony at St.
8 Peter's Catholic Church in Geneva; and
 
9     WHEREAS, James A. Murphy served during in the United States
10 Army during the Korean Conflict as a member of the 45th Signal
11 Division; and
 
12     WHEREAS, James A. Murphy was an active local volunteer with
13 the American Legion Post 300 in West Chicago and had served as
14 a past commander; he was also a member of the Phoenix Club in
15 Aurora; and
 
16     WHEREAS, James A. Murphy served his community as a member
17 of the West Chicago School Board and as an Alderman in West
18 Chicago; he was also a trustee on the Kane County Regional
19 Board of Schools; and
 
20     WHEREAS, James A. Murphy was preceded in death by his

1 parents; his mother and father-in-law, Ture and Agnes Johnson;
2 his sisters, Jean Smith and Jane Pesetski; his brother, Joseph
3 Murphy; and his brothers-in-law, James Smith, Peter Pesetski,
4 and Paul Bruhanke; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James A. Murphy is survived by his wife, Marlene;
6 his children, Jay (Julie) Murphy, Jalene (James)
7 Murphy-Swoveland, Joel (Diane) Murphy of Oswego and Jill
8 (Daniel) Murphy-Nippert of Geneva; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of James A. Murphy; and be
12 it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of James A. Murphy as an expression of
15 our sympathy.
