SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death in Iraq of United States Air Force Senior
4 Airman Daniel B. Miller Jr., of Galesburg, who died on January
5 7, 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Daniel B. Miller Jr. was born July 14, 1982, in
7 Grand Prairie, Texas, the son of Daniel B. Sr. and Robin
8 Beavers Miller; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He graduated in 2001 from ROWVA High School in
10 Oneida, where he was a member of the varsity football team;
11 after attending Carl Sandburg College, he enlisted in the
12 United States Air Force, where he was a part of the Explosive
13 Ordnance Division of the 447th Expeditionary Civil Engineer
14 Squadron; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Daniel Miller Jr. was a member of the Altona
16 United Methodist Church and very involved in the church youth
17 group; he attended Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg; and he
18 enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and canoeing; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandfather,
20 Robert E. Miller, and his grandmother, Velda Mahnesmith; and

1     WHEREAS, Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Robin and
2 Daniel Mahnesmith; his father and stepmother, Daniel Sr. and
3 Shari Miller; his girlfriend, Dana Sopher; his grandparents,
4 James and Dorothy Beavers, and F. Eleanor Miller, Dona
5 Danforth, and Leonard Mahnesmith; his brothers, Tim Miller, and
6 Anthony Mahnesmith; his stepbrother, Derek Peck; his sisters,
7 April Miller, Lisa Miller, and Lydia Mahnesmith; and his
8 stepsisters, Lori Mahnesmith, Danielle (and Richard) Carr, and
9 Jamie Weinberg; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the death of Senior Airman Daniel B.
13 Miller, Jr.; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Daniel Miller Jr. and
15 his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making
16 the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Daniel Miller Jr. as a symbol of our
19 sympathy and respect.
