SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of George A. Hartley of Orland Park, who
4 passed away on January 17, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, George Hartley was born in Chicago; he lived in
6 Lockport for 35 years before moving to Orland Park; and
 
7     WHEREAS, George Hartley was employed with the Indiana
8 Harbor Belt Rail Road for 50 years and the GATX Terminal
9 Corporation for 30 years before his retirement in 1998; and
 
10     WHEREAS, George Hartley was the founder and former
11 Treasurer of the Bonnie Brae-Forest Manor Sanitary District; he
12 was the former President and Trustee of the Lockport Library
13 Board; he was the former Assistant Supervisor of the Will
14 County Board, the former Director of Joliet Regional Port
15 Authority, and the former Trustee of the Lockport Township Fire
16 District; he served as the Lockport Township Democratic
17 Chairman and Committeeman and as a former Will County
18 Democratic Chairman; he was also a member of Lockport VFW Post
19 #5788, Lockport American Legion John Olson Post #18, and
20 Lockport Moose Lodge #1557; and
 
21     WHEREAS, George Hartley was preceded in death by his

1 parents, his two brothers, and his sister; and
 
2     WHEREAS, George Hartley is survived by his children, Cathie
3 (Vic) Getson, George Cary (Carol), Cindy, Sharon, Ken (Denise),
4 Carol (James) Cates, Karen (Rick) Russell, Sandy Simmons, and
5 Kim; his 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and his
6 several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family and friends, the passing of George A. Hartley; and
10 be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of George A. Hartley as an expression
13 of our sympathy.
