SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Illinois Army National Guard Private First Class Ashley Sietsema of River Grove, who passed away in Kuwait on November 11, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Pfc. Ashley Sietsema grew up in Franklin Park; she joined the Illinois Army National Guard shortly after graduating from East Leyden High School in 2005 in order to pay for college; and

WHEREAS, Pfc. Ashley Sietsema discovered she was interested in the medical field while in basic training; pursuing her medical interest, she joined the 708th Medical Company as a medic while attending nursing school at Northern Illinois University; her unit left for Kuwait in September of 2007, where she served until her tragic passing; and

WHEREAS, Pfc. Ashley Sietsema will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a joyful and loving person who always put others first; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Illinois Army National Guard Private First Class Ashley Sietsema; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Private First Class Ashley Sietsema and her willingness to serve our country, which led to her making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Private First Class Ashley Sietsema as an expression of our sympathy.
