SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to hear of the death of Charles Branch Jr., who passed away on November 29, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Charles Branch Jr. was born in Rolling Fork, Mississippi on October 12, 1942; he was a graduate of Henry Weathers High School; and he served his country in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, He enrolled in Columbia College in 1967 and graduated with a B.A. in communications; and

WHEREAS, He worked for KDKO as a disc jockey and program director from 1967 to 1968 and for WMPP as a disc jockey from 1968 to 1972; and

WHEREAS, He worked as a Human Rights Investigator and later as a supervisor with the State of Illinois for seventeen years; he later worked as an Assistant Administrator for the Cook County Department of Animal Control; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Charles Branch Sr. and Carrie Branch; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Branch Jr. will be deeply felt by those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Elizabeth Carter; his children, Gerald R. Branch and Gsha R. Branch Sr.; his grandchildren, Rodale Branch, Emanuel Branch, Gsha R. Branch Jr., Starr Branch, and Elizabeth Cheryl Branch; and his siblings, Bessie Branch, Emily Washington, former State Senator Earlean Collins, Curtistine Obanna, James Rogers, and John L. Rogers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Charles Branch Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Branch Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
