SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Edward H. Sauer of Springfield, who
4 passed away on October 23, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was born on June 1, 1934 in
6 Spaulding; he was the son of Edward and Edith M. Schewe Sauer;
7 he married Nancy Foreman on October 20, 1956; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was a lifelong resident of
9 Springfield; he worked for the Springfield Police Department
10 from June 14, 1956 until his retirement on May 2, 1988 as a
11 motorcycle officer, patrolman, and beat cop, as well as serving
12 as an officer in the towing division; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was a member of the Immanuel
14 Lutheran Church in Riverton, the Illinois Police Association,
15 the Police Benevolent Association, and the Aqua Sports Club; he
16 was a member and trustee in Eagles Aerie 437; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer enjoyed fishing, gardening,
18 watching NASCAR, and playing shuffleboard; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was preceded in death by his
20 parents, Edward and Edith; and

1     WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer is survived by his wife, Nancy;
2 his daughters, Patti L. Sauer (Kim Smith) and Toni M. (Michael)
3 Mitchell; his son, Edward W. (Julie) Sauer; his grandchildren,
4 Stephen, Erica, and Madison Sauer and Mykayla, Marcus,
5 Mackenzie, and Madilyn Mitchell; his sisters, Clara Wright and
6 Edith A. (Lee) Hooper; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and
7 cousins; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Edward H. Sauer; and be
11 it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Edward H. Sauer as an expression of
14 our sympathy.
