SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward H. Sauer of Springfield, who passed away on October 23, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was born on June 1, 1934 in Spaulding; he was the son of Edward and Edith M. Schewe Sauer; he married Nancy Foreman on October 20, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was a lifelong resident of Springfield; he worked for the Springfield Police Department from June 14, 1956 until his retirement on May 2, 1988 as a motorcycle officer, patrolman, and beat cop, as well as serving as an officer in the towing division; and

WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton, the Illinois Police Association, the Police Benevolent Association, and the Aqua Sports Club; he was a member and trustee in Eagles Aerie 437; and

WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching NASCAR, and playing shuffleboard; and

WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edith; and

WHEREAS, Edward H. Sauer is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughters, Patti L. Sauer (Kim Smith) and Toni M. (Michael) Mitchell; his son, Edward W. (Julie) Sauer; his grandchildren, Stephen, Erica, and Madison Sauer and Mykayla, Marcus, Mackenzie, and Madilyn Mitchell; his sisters, Clara Wright and Edith A. (Lee) Hooper; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Edward H. Sauer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward H. Sauer as an expression of our sympathy.
