SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frank Lewis of Peoria, who passed away on September 19, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was born on October 17, 1942 in Peoria; he was the son of Charles K. and Laura (Jarvis) Lewis; he married Paula J. Navaressi on October 19, 1963 in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was the owner and operator of Lewis Optical in Peoria; he was also employed at Green View Nursery Tree Farm in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was a member of the Peoria Optimists; he was a commissioner on the Peoria Historic Commission; he was a member of the Renaissance Park Commission; he was a board member of the Central Illinois Landmarks Foundation; he was the founder and a past president of the Olde Towne Historic Residence Association; he believed in the City of Peoria and worked tirelessly on its behalf; in honor of his dedication to the community, the Frank D. Lewis Park was unveiled at the corner of Wayne and Northeast Monroe Streets on July 12, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Laura; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lewis is survived by his wife, Paula; his daughter, Lisa A. Slane; his granddaughter, Alexandra Slane; and his brother, Bill Lewis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Frank Lewis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frank Lewis as an expression of our sympathy.
