SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Granville "Mac" Warfield of Granite City, who passed away on August 20, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Granville Warfield was born on July 17, 1931, in Granite City; his parents were William W. and Estella, nee Schnettou, Warfield; he married Betty, nee Nash, Warfield on October 7, 1952, in Granite City; and

WHEREAS, Granville Warfield was a long time retired employee of Granite City Steel; he had served as a former superintendent of streets, as well as a Madison County Board member and a city councilman in Granite City; he was an active Democrat all his life, serving as vice chairman of the State Democratic Party and as chairman of the Democratic Party of Madison County; he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and was affiliated with numerous civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, Granville Warfield was preceded in death by his parents, William W. and Estella; and

WHEREAS, Granville Warfield is survived by his wife, Betty; his brothers, William Warfield and Danny Warfield; his sisters, Irene Warfield and Jean Ramstack; his special family friend, Sharon Perjak; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Granville "Mac" Warfield; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Granville "Mac" Warfield as an expression of our sympathy.
