SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Quentin Yerby of Peoria, who passed away
4 on June 2, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Quentin Yerby was born on February 28, 1929, in
6 Peoria; his parents were Talbert G. and Irene (Cramer) Yerby;
7 he married Marian J. Ney on August 2, 1952, in Peoria; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Quentin Yerby was well known in Peoria for his
9 tireless work as a major fundraiser for youth sports through
10 his active participation in many community organizations; he
11 was a helping hand to countless area charities and
12 not-for-profit groups, and volunteered his time to the Peoria
13 Park District for many community events; he also enjoyed
14 spending time with his family and friends, and working as an
15 usher at the Peoria Civic Center; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Quentin Yerby was a member of St. Philomena
17 Catholic Church, its Men's Club, the 3rd Degree Spalding
18 Council Knights of Columbus 427, the Independent Sports Club,
19 and the Suburban Kiwanis; he was secretary-treasurer of the Old
20 Timers Baseball Association and served as treasurer of the
21 Peoria County Old Settlers Association; and

1     WHEREAS, Quentin Yerby is survived by his wife; his
2 daughters, Linda Yerby, Diane (Michael) Finan, Pam (Brian)
3 DeVos, and Jenny Yerby; his grandchildren, Talbert Heinz, Tom
4 Finan, and Sarah and Timothy DeVos; and his brother, Joel
5 (Susan) Yerby; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Quentin Yerby; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Quentin Yerby as an expression of
12 our sympathy.
