SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Maureen E. Chaney of Wilmington, who passed away on April 30, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Maureen E. Chaney was born on July 2, 1936 in Peoria; she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Mary (Hollaway) Sharp; and

WHEREAS, Maureen E. Chaney was employed in the purchasing department at Silver Cross Hospital for over 15 years; she held numerous other local jobs that she always performed at 100 percent; she once owned Maureen's Restaurant in Joliet and Chaney's Food Store (formerly Hooper's) in Wilmington; her greatest joy was sharing time with her family and co-workers; she was known as a fantastic cook and nurturer; she loved the Wilmington Wildcats, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears; and

WHEREAS, Maureen E. Chaney was a former member of the Wilmington School Board; she was very proud of being one of the original committee members to begin WILCO for local students; and

WHEREAS, Maureen E. Chaney left her family the importance of unconditional love, hard work, family loyalty, and the power to overcome adversity; she was known for sharing her smile and having a positive attitude with all who came into her presence; and

WHEREAS, Maureen E. Chaney is survived by her son, James (Bev) Chaney; her daughters, Becky (Rick) Hansen, Pam (Mike) VanDuyne, Michele (Andy) Rush, and Kathy (Steve) Horwath; her grandchildren, Alicia, Curt, T.J., Nick, Michael, Katy, Matthew, Christopher, Stephen, Mickey, Nicole, Bethani, Mark, Corey, Kaylee, Timothy, Aleks, and Joey; her great-grandchildren, Brock, Easton, Karlie, Markie, and Olivia; she is also survived by her former husband, Ron Chaney; and special friends, Nancy Nelson, Evelyn Spinozzi, Joe Holmes, and Babe Proffit; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Maureen E. Chaney; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Maureen E. Chaney as an expression of our sympathy.
