SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert E. Hynes of Chicago, who passed away on February 16, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hynes was a loving husband, proud father, and passionate grandfather, who was first and foremost a shining light to his family; he is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Legoria; his sons, Kevin, Brian (Roberta), and Michael (Isabel); and his grandchildren, Enzo, Seve, Cate, Isabel, Quinn, and Emmet; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hynes was a leader in his community and trusted friend to many; whether it was a good laugh, sage advice, or a compassionate ear, Bob could be counted on at any time; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hynes touched many and lived a life of love, laughter, commitment, dedication, and respect and taught those around him that life truly is not a dress rehearsal; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hynes was born in Chicago on April 5, 1944 to Irish immigrant parents Kathleen and William Hynes; he and his four brothers Tom, Bill, Tim, and Jack were raised on Chicago's Southside, each rising to prominence in his chosen field; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hynes was a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and a 1969 graduate of Loyola's Law School; he served as an Internal Revenue Service agent, Assistant General Counsel at the Illinois Department of Revenue, and General Counsel to Cook County Assessor Thomas Tully; he was a brilliant attorney, practicing law in Chicago for over 35 years; at the time of his death, Bob was a partner in the Chicago law firm of O'Keefe, Lyons & Hynes, LLC; and

WHEREAS, Those that knew Robert Hynes are sad that he is gone but know they are blessed to have known him; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert E. Hynes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert E. Hynes as an expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
