SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothea Wilson Plummer Sheppard of Litchfield, who passed away on March 14, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Dorothea Wilson was born on June 9, 1928, in Honey Point Township in Macoupin County, northwest of Litchfield, the daughter of the late Harry and Lydia Bishop Wilson; she married John Plummer on June 12, 1947 and they divorced in 1978; she later married Rodney Doebler on January 3, 1980; he passed away in 1996; she married Floyd Sheppard on August 17, 1996, and he passed away in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sheppard was employed over the years by Brown Shoe Company in Litchfield, as a waitress at The Supper Club, and as a waitress and hostess at the Southern Air Restaurant, both in Springfield; in 1980, she moved to Newaygo, Michigan where she worked as a food demonstrator at D&W Supermarket in Fremont, Michigan; she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her parents and previous husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers: William, Carl and Harry Wilson; and five sisters: LaVerna Wilson, Helen Snow, Evelyn Durr, June Schmuck, and Purletta Woods; and

WHEREAS, Dorothea Wilson Plummer Sheppard is survived by her sons, John Plummer Jr. and his wife, Joyce, Terry Plummer and his wife, Vanessa, and Robert Plummer and his wife, Donna; her brothers, Arthur Wilson and Gerald Wilson; her sisters, Alvira Radley and her husband, Tom, and Nelma Ridley and her husband, Dennis; and her grandchildren: Julie Lading and her husband, Phillip, Jennifer and Jason Plummer, Jana and Sarah Plummer, and Audra and Lauren Plummer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothea Wilson Plummer Sheppard and extend our condolences to her family and friends at this time; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothea Wilson Plummer Sheppard as a symbol of our sympathy.
