SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Clarence N. Kulp of Alton, who passed
4 away on March 12, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Clarence Kulp was born on September 15, 1913, in
6 Alton; his parents were Henry and Helena (Held) Kulp; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He graduated from Marquette Catholic High School
8 in 1932, in the first graduating class to complete all four
9 years at the school; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Clarence Kulp was a staff sergeant in the United
11 States Army during World War II, serving in the Seventh
12 Division in the Philippines, Marshall Islands, and the Aleutian
13 Islands; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Clarence Kulp married the former Martha Ryan on
15 May 1, 1948, in Alton; he worked at the Princess Theater on
16 Broadway in Alton and later at the Grand Theater in Alton,
17 where he retired as manager after 40 years of service; he was a
18 member of the Alton Knights of Columbus and the VFW Post 1308;
19 and
 
20     WHEREAS, Clarence Kulp is survived by his wife, Martha; his

1 daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy L. and Don Williams and Mary
2 H. and Robert Longenecker; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry
3 and Judy Kulp; his grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and
4 Mike Loncaric, Christopher and Christi Williams, Andrew and
5 Wendy Kulp, Jennifer and Mark Miller, Lindsay and Matt Waters,
6 and Julie, Kari, and Patrick Longenecker; his great-grandsons;
7 his sister, Lucille Schulte; and his brother and sister-in-law,
8 Robert and Mildred Kulp; he was preceded in death by his
9 parents; his brother, Harry Kulp; and his sisters, Rose Eppel,
10 Bertha Schattner, and Helen Bierk; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 his family and friends, the passing of Clarence Kulp; and be it
14 further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Clarence Kulp as a symbol of our
17 sympathy.
