SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Louis Perkins of Alton, who passed away on December 5, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Louis Perkins was born on August 11, 1932; his parents were Cora Scott-Harris and Arnold Scott; and

WHEREAS, He attended the Edwardsville and Alton public schools; and he served in the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, Louis Perkins was a bricklayer for Laclede Steel for 33 years, retiring in 1995; and he worked for 10 years as a security guard at Lewis and Clark Community College; and

WHEREAS, Louis Perkins is survived by his mother, Cora; his ex-wives, Lena Simpson Perkins and Eva Smith Perkins; his sons, Joseph Simpson, Louis R. Perkins, and Charles C. Perkins; his stepson, Lamont Smith; his daughters, Janie Couselt, Deborah (Ronald) Betts, and Mary "Penny" Perkins; his five grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn Fields, Phyllis (Henry) Moore, Virginia Marie Perkins, Sallie (Albert) Wilkerson, and Edna Perkins; his stepsister, Tyra Taylor; his special friend, Orville D. Johnson; his special cousin, Myrtle Ahart; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of Louis Perkins of Alton; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louis Perkins, as a symbol of our sympathy.
