SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Louis Perkins of Alton, who passed away
4 on December 5, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Louis Perkins was born on August 11, 1932; his
6 parents were Cora Scott-Harris and Arnold Scott; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He attended the Edwardsville and Alton public
8 schools; and he served in the United States Air Force; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Louis Perkins was a bricklayer for Laclede Steel
10 for 33 years, retiring in 1995; and he worked for 10 years as a
11 security guard at Lewis and Clark Community College; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Louis Perkins is survived by his mother, Cora; his
13 ex-wives, Lena Simpson Perkins and Eva Smith Perkins; his sons,
14 Joseph Simpson, Louis R. Perkins, and Charles C. Perkins; his
15 stepson, Lamont Smith; his daughters, Janie Couselt, Deborah
16 (Ronald) Betts, and Mary "Penny" Perkins; his five
17 grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his sisters,
18 Carolyn Fields, Phyllis (Henry) Moore, Virginia Marie Perkins,
19 Sallie (Albert) Wilkerson, and Edna Perkins; his stepsister,
20 Tyra Taylor; his special friend, Orville D. Johnson; his
21 special cousin, Myrtle Ahart; and his nieces, nephews, cousins,

1 and friends; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
4 his family and friends, the death of Louis Perkins of Alton;
5 and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Louis Perkins, as a symbol of our
8 sympathy.
