SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

220 ILCS 5/8-511 new

Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that a qualified utility company representative as determined by police, fire, or emergency personnel may disconnect gas or electricity service provided by any utility when a hazardous event requires immediate action. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding Section 8-511 as follows:

(220 ILCS 5/8-511 new)

Sec. 8-511. Emergency disconnection of gas or electricity. A qualified utility company representative as determined by police, fire, or emergency personnel may disconnect gas or electricity service provided by any utility when a hazardous event requires immediate action.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
