HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Patrick J. Kenny on the occasion of his retirement as Fire Chief of the Village of Hinsdale on January 4, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny earned his associate's degree from College of DuPage and his bachelor's degree from Loyola University; he is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has served the Illinois Fire Service for over 25 years; he began his firefighting career with the Village of Hinsdale in 1983; he was promoted to the position of Fire Chief in 1994; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has been the recipient of many awards in recognition of his fine work; he was the recipient of the 2004 Fire Chief of the Year Award from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; he is a current recipient of the Chief Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence; he was also a nominee for the Fire Chief of the Year Award Career category for the International Fire Chiefs Association; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has been active with many firefighting and emergency preparedness organizations; he served on the Illinois Terrorism Task Force from 2006 to 2007; he serves as a Director for the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association; he serves as an instructor for the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire Service Institute, and Northwestern University; he is also a Past President of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Patrick J. Kenny will serve as Director of Fire and Emergency Services of the Western Springs Fire Department and as a paid-on-call Deputy Chief; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has developed an excellent reputation throughout the State of Illinois for his work in promoting professionalism, safety, and emergency operations within the firefighting service; his leadership has resulted in numerous station, service, and equipment improvements within the Village of Hinsdale's fire service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Patrick J. Kenny on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Patrick J. Kenny as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
