HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ray and Sharon Johnson on the occasion of their 30 years of dedicated service to the people of the City of Marion as the owners of The Village Jeweler jewelry store; and

WHEREAS, Ray and Sharon Johnson opened The Village Jeweler at the Town and Country shopping plaza in 1980; they rebuilt the store in the same location after a tornado struck the plaza in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Ray and Sharon Johnson moved The Village Jeweler to a location on Carbon Street in the Marion Plaza Shopping Center in 1990, where they remained until their retirement; and

WHEREAS, Ray and Sharon Johnson plan to spend their retirement years attending their grandchildren's events and activities, as well as going on camping trips, traveling, and turkey hunting; and

WHEREAS, Ray and Sharon Johnson have developed an excellent reputation as well-respected and trustworthy business owners; their quality merchandise, fair prices, and top-notch customer service will be missed by many consumers in the City of Marion and beyond; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ray and Sharon Johnson on the occasion of their retirement and wish them continued success and happiness in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ray and Sharon Johnson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
