HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Reynaldo
4 Glover, who passed away on November 27, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Reynaldo Glover was born in Gary, Indiana, on
6 March 2, 1943, the second of six children; after graduating
7 from high school, he went to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend
8 Fisk University; in 1965, he enrolled in Harvard Law School,
9 earning an LL.B. in 1968; and
 
10     WHEREAS, After graduation Reynaldo Glover went to work for
11 the Law Students Civil Rights Research Council in New York,
12 where he became the national executive director; after
13 returning to Chicago, he became a general partner at a number
14 of law firms culminating in his joining TLC Beatrice
15 International Holdings in New York in 1994 and becoming counsel
16 to DLA Piper in Chicago; and
 
17     WHEREAS, From 1996-2000, Reynaldo Glover managed and
18 oversaw all corporate disposition transactions including the
19 sale by TLC of the third largest ice cream business in Spain,
20 the largest snack food business in Ireland, and the seventh
21 largest retail grocery chain in France; during 2007, Mr. Glover
22 oversaw the liquidation of the company; and

1     WHEREAS, Mr. Glover was elected chairman of the Fisk
2 University Board of Trustees in 2003, a position he held until
3 his death; he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of
4 the City Colleges of Chicago; Mr. Glover was a member of the
5 Cook County Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the
6 Economic Club of Chicago, Alpha Phi Alpha, and Beta Boule Sigma
7 Pi Phi Fraternity; his favorite pursuit was archery and he was
8 an active member of the Chicago Archery Association; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Reynaldo Glover is survived by his wife, Pamela;
10 his children, Brian, Reynaldo Jr., Jharett, Brantley, Ryan, and
11 Shea; his three brothers; and his many relatives, friends, and
12 colleagues; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 mourn, along with his family, friends, and colleagues, the
16 passing of Reynaldo Glover; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Reynaldo Glover as a symbol of our
19 sincere sympathy.
