HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Reynaldo Glover, who passed away on November 27, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Reynaldo Glover was born in Gary, Indiana, on March 2, 1943, the second of six children; after graduating from high school, he went to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend Fisk University; in 1965, he enrolled in Harvard Law School, earning an LL.B. in 1968; and

WHEREAS, After graduation Reynaldo Glover went to work for the Law Students Civil Rights Research Council in New York, where he became the national executive director; after returning to Chicago, he became a general partner at a number of law firms culminating in his joining TLC Beatrice International Holdings in New York in 1994 and becoming counsel to DLA Piper in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, From 1996-2000, Reynaldo Glover managed and oversaw all corporate disposition transactions including the sale by TLC of the third largest ice cream business in Spain, the largest snack food business in Ireland, and the seventh largest retail grocery chain in France; during 2007, Mr. Glover oversaw the liquidation of the company; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Glover was elected chairman of the Fisk University Board of Trustees in 2003, a position he held until his death; he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago; Mr. Glover was a member of the Cook County Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Economic Club of Chicago, Alpha Phi Alpha, and Beta Boule Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity; his favorite pursuit was archery and he was an active member of the Chicago Archery Association; and

WHEREAS, Reynaldo Glover is survived by his wife, Pamela; his children, Brian, Reynaldo Jr., Jharett, Brantley, Ryan, and Shea; his three brothers; and his many relatives, friends, and colleagues; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and colleagues, the passing of Reynaldo Glover; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Reynaldo Glover as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
