HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mayme Goestenkors
4 on the occasion of celebrating her 100th birthday on October
5 13, 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mayme Goestenkors was born on October 13, 1907;
7 she is the second child of Joseph and Adelheid (Kampwerth)
8 Grapperhaus; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mayme Goestenkors dropped out of school after the
10 passing of her mother in 1920 to help on the family farm and to
11 help raise her younger siblings; her time on the family farm
12 taught her the importance of hard work, which is perhaps the
13 secret to her amazing longevity; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mayme Goestenkors married Theodore Goestenkors;
15 together, they managed the Vee Bee Lounge in Breese; they also
16 owned and managed Dick's Tavern on North 1st Street in Breese
17 and the Southside Tavern on South 4th Street in Breese; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Mayme Goestenkors enjoys quilting, using her own
19 designs to stamp the quilts; she also enjoys baking sugar
20 cookies and cream puffs; and

1     WHEREAS, Mayme Goestenkors was active with the Breese
2 Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary,
3 Daughters of Isabella, and St. Augustine Church; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Mayme Goestenkors has developed an excellent
5 reputation in her community as a fun-loving person with a
6 contagious laugh; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9 congratulate Mayme Goestenkors on the occasion of celebrating
10 her 100th birthday and wish her continued success and happiness
11 in the future; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Mayme Goestenkors as a symbol of our esteem and
14 respect.
