HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4 States Army Corporal Philip Brodnick of New Lenox, who was
5 killed in action on August 22, 2007 in northern Iraq; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Cpl. Philip Brodnick was born on July 6, 1982 in
7 Mokena; his parents are James Brodnick and Marian Stockhausen;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, Cpl. Philip Brodnick attended St. Albert the Great
10 School and Frankfort Junior High before graduating from
11 Lincoln-Way High School in 2000; he joined the United States
12 Army when he was 18 years old and was sent to Kosovo, serving
13 there until 2002; after his discharge, he moved to Chicago,
14 where he worked odd jobs and applied to be a policeman; and
 
15     WHEREAS, In 2005, Cpl. Philip Brodnick reenlisted in the
16 U.S. Army and was placed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii with
17 the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Combat
18 Team of the 25th Infantry Division; in 2006, he was sent to
19 Kirkuk, Iraq, where he trained Iraqi soldiers and served as an
20 infantry scout until his untimely death; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Cpl. Philip Brodnick enjoyed spending time with

1 family and his dog, Dozer; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Cpl. Philip Brodnick is survived by his parents,
3 James Brodnick and Marian Stockhausen; his sisters, Lisa and
4 Kimberly Larson; and his many friends and military comrades;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of United
9 States Army Corporal Philip Brodnick; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Corporal Philip
11 Brodnick and his willingness to serve our country, which led to
12 him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of United States Army Corporal Philip
15 Brodnick as an expression of our sympathy.
