HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Police Chief Lloyd Unland on thirty years of service to the Village of Minooka; and

WHEREAS, Chief Unland is a past member of MADD, the Grundy Area Career Education Cooperative, the National Police Officer's Association, the Cook County Crime Commission, the Illinois Sheriff's Association, and the Champs Board; he served as President of the Grundy County Crime Prevention Commission, and as the director of the Minooka EMA; and

WHEREAS, Chief Unland is currently a member of the Channahon/Minooka Chamber of Commerce, the Minooka Lions Club, where he serves as Secretary and Treasurer, a member of the Membership Committee & Legislative Committee Chairman of Community Policing & Crime Prevention Committee of the International Association of Chief's of Police, a member and past President of the Police Chief's Association of Will County, the Vice-chair of the Regional Chief's Committee of the Kendall County Chief's of Police, a member of the Tri-River Training Advisory Board, a member of the Grundy County Local Emergency Planning Committee, a member of the Grundy County 911 Board, a member of the No Tolerance Task Force Board, and President of the Grundy County Manager's Association in 2003 and 2007; and

WHEREAS, Chief Unland has received letters of commendation and recognition, including: from Village President Clyde Heap for work and achievement above and beyond the call of duty; from Village President Offerman for the apprehending of an armed robber from the Foodliner Grocery Store; from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the solving of Minooka's Bank Robbery, which led to solving five additional bank robberies; from Village President Clyde Heap for the solving of the Kodo Pharmacy burglary, which led to solving four additional burglaries; from Village President Flatness for the apprehension of an armed robber at Minooka Food Shop; from Village President Offerman for saving the life of a child; in addition, he received the Officer of the year award in 1998, and in 1994, he was recognized by department officers for his leadership and dedication to the department; and

WHEREAS, Chief Unland graduated basic police training through the Illinois State Police and the Police Administration of Will County; he graduated from the Northwestern University Traffic Institute; and he has attended numerous law enforcement training classes, from Governor's State University, Joliet Junior College, N.E.M.R.T., Tri-River Training, the Chicago Crime Commission, Multi-Regional Criminal Justice Training, the Illinois State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police; and

WHEREAS, Chief Unland is dedicated to the people of Minooka and has shown that through his thirty years of service to the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Police Chief Lloyd Unland and wish him continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Unland as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
