HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to show their support for Southern Illinois University President, Glenn Poshard; and

WHEREAS, After serving as a member and chair of the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University, Glenn Poshard was selected as SIU's President on November 18, 2005; he took office on January 1, 2006; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure as President, Glenn Poshard's leadership skills, great knowledge of the institution, and intense dedication to the school and its students have proven to be invaluable to Southern Illinois University and its students, taking SIU in bold new directions and creating a more dynamic and engaging campus for SIU's faculty, staff, and, most importantly, its students; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Poshard's excellent reputation of morality and wisdom, along with his intense devotion to Southern Illinois University and experience with the institution, are essential to the execution of SIU's long and short-term goals; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Poshard represents the finest of Illinois' public servants, and this body is proud to have him in a position of such responsibility; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we support SIU President Glenn Poshard and urge him to continue his intense dedication and hard work toward the school and to remain in his current position; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Glenn Poshard as a symbol of our respect for the work he has done for Southern Illinois University and for the State of Illinois.
