1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Vi Strobe of
4 Centralia, who celebrated her 104th birthday on July 10, 2007;
5 and

6     WHEREAS, Vi Strobe was born on July 10, 1903 in Fries,
7 Virginia; she moved to Centralia on July 1, 1970; and

8     WHEREAS, She taught school in Metropolis, Ashley, and
9 Centralia for a total of 32 years; she impressed her students
10 by singing "Bringing in the Sheaves" in a Native American
11 language, something she can still do today; and

12     WHEREAS, Vi Strobe is the daughter of Methodist minister
13 and currently attends the First United Methodist Church in
14 Centralia, where she is a member; and

15     WHEREAS, As part of her birthday celebration, she received
16 a complimentary bouquet of flowers from Judy Thalman of Ross
17 Flower Shop in Centralia; and

18     WHEREAS, Vi Strobe considers her recipe for longevity to be
19 "besides some medication, taking care of yourself and being
20 happy"; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate Vi Strobe on her long and rich life and wish her
4 continued good health and happiness in the future; and be it
5 further

6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Vi Strobe as a symbol of our respect.
