HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are pleased to congratulate the Faulstich family of Danville as they celebrate the 75th anniversary of Faulstich Printing; and

WHEREAS, Fred Faulstich is co-owner of Faulstich Printing Company, and recalls there were once many print shops in Danville and now Faulstich Printing, at 2001 E. Voorhees Street, is one of a few commercial print shops left, as well as the oldest; and

WHEREAS, Fred Faulstich, his brother, Bill, and their cousin, Con Bateman, continue to run the print shop started by their dad and Bateman's uncle, Paul, in 1932; the shop employs 11 full-time workers; for the first 15 years after the shop opened, the elder Faulstich worked in tandem with Ed Tate, and the business was called Tate-Faulstich Printing in the 1930s and 1940s; and

WHEREAS, Mike Bateman, the Faulstich brothers' uncle, was a partner in the family business from 1957 until his death in 2004; Con, the late Mike Bateman's son, continues to work at the print shop; Bill Faulstich started working at the print shop in 1959, with Fred joining him in 1960; Peggy Niccum, the office manager, has been a fixture at the shop for 42 years; and

WHEREAS, An "old-fashioned" 1965 Heidelberg press still is used for jobs that entail die-cutting, but an even older hand-fed press has been donated to Kennekuk County Preserve's historic Bunker Hill area; the company uses soy ink, and most of the paper is recycled; the majority of the jobs tackled nowadays include full-color printing, soft and hardbound books, newsletters, trade magazines, and advertising literature. The print shop has equipment that can "saddle stitch" booklets and "perfect bind" paperback books; their customers include local school districts and industries, as well as customers from Champaign-Urbana, the East Coast, and the Southwest; and

WHEREAS, the staff of Faulstich Printing is to be commended for this anniversary occasion; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the staff of Faulstich Printing on the 75th anniversary of the business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Fred and Bill Faulstich and Con Bateman as a symbol of our respect.
