HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gregory Okon on his retirement from the Orland Park Police Department on June 22, 2007 after 29 years of exemplary service to the Village of Orland Park; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Okon joined the Palos Park Police Department in 1973 as a dispatcher; in 1978, he joined the neighboring Orland Park Police Department, where he served in various divisions, including patrol, traffic safety, tactical unit, and investigations; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Okon has been the recipient of the Police Officer of the Year Award and the Cook County State's Attorney's Officer Achievement Award, along with numerous departmental commendations, awards of merit, and letters of recognition and appreciation; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Okon and his wife Mary Kay have 4 children, Amy Lynn, Gregory Jr., Ashley, and Amanda; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gregory Okon on his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gregory Okon as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
