HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Major Clay, a senior at Lanphier High School in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Major Clay cleared 7 feet 0 1/4 at Memorial Stadium in Springfield to break the boys City Track and Field Meet high jump record; and

WHEREAS, The previous record was 7 feet and held by James Ballard from Southeast High School, set in 1994; and

WHEREAS, Major Clay is the defending Class AA State high jump champion; his efforts helped Lanphier win the team title in the City Track and Field Meet for the 31st consecutive year, scoring 123 points to the 62 scored by runner-up Springfield High School; and

WHEREAS, Major Clay has not lost a high jump competition since 2005, when he placed fifth at the Class AA State meet; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Major Clay on his impressive record-breaking victory and commend him for his hard work that brought him this record-breaking achievement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Major Clay as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
