HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The framers of the United States Constitution established the qualifications for the office of President of the United States and included the requirement that only natural born citizens are eligible to serve as President of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the constitutional qualifications for the office of the President of the United States have been upheld for almost 220 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the United States Congress to continue to uphold the constitutional requirement that only natural born citizens be qualified to run for the office of President of the United States; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Majority Leader of the United States Senate, the Minority Leader of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, and to each member of the Illinois congressional delegation.
