1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the
3 Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Amir
4 James of Morgan park on writing the winning essay for the
5 Lincolnland Legends Awards Gala held at the Abraham Lincoln
6 Presidential Museum; and

7     WHEREAS, Amir James will be attending Virginia State
8 University in the fall of 2007; he will sign his National
9 Letter of Intent on May 8, 2007; The United States Tennis
10 Association and a former tennis pro will be on hand for the
11 event, held in conjunction with Tennis Month; and

12     WHEREAS, Amir James wrote his essay about L. LaMont Bryant,
13 the founder and CEO of Love To Serve, Inc.; and

14     WHEREAS, His award winning essay resulted in Amir receiving
15 a $10,500 scholarship to the university of his choice; and

16     WHEREAS, In addition to the $10,500 scholarship Amir James
17 also received a National Collegiate Athletic Association
18 Division II scholarship from the University of Virginia to
19 compete on the men's tennis team; and

20     WHEREAS, Amir James is to be commended for his hard work,

1 his devotion to the sport of tennis, and his winning essay;
2 therefore, be it

3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5 congratulate Amir James on writing the winning essay for the
6 Lincolnland Legends Awards Gala and for his many achievements;
7 and be it further

8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Amir James as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
