HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Captain
4 Kevin Landeck of Wheaton, who was killed in Iraq on February 2,
5 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Kevin Landeck will receive the Purple Heart Medal
7 and the Bronze Star, posthumously, for his bravery in service;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, Kevin Landeck attended Whittier Elementary,
10 Edison Middle School, and was a 1999 graduate of Wheaton
11 Warrenville South High School, where he was a pole vaulter; he
12 was a 2004 Purdue University Reserve Officer Training Corps
13 (ROTC) graduate; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Captain Landeck was assigned to the 2nd Battalion,
15 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th
16 Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He met his wife, Bethany, while attending Purdue;
18 she was is a Purdue graduate, and is a member of the National
19 Guard; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Captain Landeck cared deeply for children, and was

1 corresponding with his cousin, Jill Neis, and her fourth grade
2 class at Timber Trails School in Hoffman Estates; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Captain Kevin Landeck is survived by his wife,
4 Bethany Landeck; his father, Richard Landeck; his mother, Vicki
5 Landeck; his sister, Jennifer Landeck; his brother-in-law,
6 Kyle Beck; and his cousin, Jill Neis; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
10 Captain Kevin Landeck; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Captain Kevin Landeck
12 and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him
13 making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Captain Kevin Landeck as a symbol of
16 our respect and sympathy.
