HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Morton High School girls varsity basketball team, the Lady Potters, on an impressive season; and

WHEREAS, The Morton varsity girls basketball team recorded a 31-3 overall record; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters won the fourth place trophy at the class AA State tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters won the Quincy Thanksgiving Tournament defeating #1 ranked Bolingbrook with a score of 44-42; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters were undefeated in the Mid-Illini Conference with a record of 14-0; this was the third season for 20-plus wins for the team; this season saw the Lady Potters win their third straight regional championship, their first sectional championship, and their first ever super sectional championship; the girls set a school record of 17 wins in a row, a school record of 31 victories, and an 8-3 record versus teams ranked in the top 15 teams in the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Bob Becker has compiled a 144-79 career record in eight seasons as Morton High School's head girls basketball coach; during his tenure his teams have earned two Mid-Illini Conference championships, three consecutive regional championships, a sectional title, a super sectional title, and a fourth place State finish; and

WHEREAS, The assistant coaches are Dan Stimpert and Bill Davis; the ball boys are Bobby Becker and Ben Main; the Athletic Director is Greg Prichard; the Principal is Dennis Johnson; and the Superintendent is Dr. Scott Russell; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Lady Potters are Cecilia Doan, Tracy Pontius, Keegan Ryan, Julia Bodnarova, Jaimie Buckman, Amy Anderson, Meghan Schoen, Sarah Hendricks, Brooke Bisping, Sydney Stahlberg, Lisa Byard, and Ashton Mertens; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Morton High School girls varsity basketball team, the Lady Potters, on an impressive season; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lady Potters of Morton High School as a symbol of our respect.
