HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to honor Eli Williams of the Westville Tigers on being named the 2006 Commercial-News Football Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Eli gained 1,397 yards rushing and receiving combined with 24 touchdowns on offense, was the leading tackler on defense, and had two interceptions; and

WHEREAS, Eli's play helped propel the Tigers to a 13 and 1 record this past season; he was named Most Valuable Player by his teammates; and

WHEREAS, Eli comes from a family of athletes; his father played for the Westville football team in the mid-1970s, his older sister Ashily pitched for the softball team from 1998-2002, and younger sister Carissa plays basketball and volleyball; and

WHEREAS, Eli always worked hard to be a better athlete and football player and a true team player, but it was a team effort that was the reason for a title run that took the Tigers to the State Championship game; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Eli Williams on being named the 2006 Commercial-News Football Player of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eli Williams as a token of our esteem.
