1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, Historic preservation is an effective tool for
3 managing growth, revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering local
4 pride, and maintaining community character while enhancing
5 livability; and

6     WHEREAS, Historic preservation is relevant for communities
7 across the nation, both urban and rural, and for Americans of
8 all ages, all walks of life, and all ethnic backgrounds; and

9     WHEREAS, It is important to celebrate the role of history
10 in our lives and the contributions made by dedicated
11 individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the
12 heritage that has shaped us as a people; and

13     WHEREAS, "Look at Local History Month" is the theme for the
14 celebration of Preservation Month throughout McHenry County,
15 being held in conjunction with National Preservation Month;
16 therefore, be it

17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 proclaim May of 2007 as "Look at Local History" Month in the
20 State of Illinois, and call upon the citizens of the State of
21 Illinois to join others across the State in recognizing and
