HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Roy Martin on his
4 retirement from the Alcoa plant in Riverdale, Iowa; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Roy Martin has worked at Alcoa for 56 years and 4
6 months; his career began on October 16, 1950 as a laborer in
7 the Ingot Plant, where molden aluminum is poured to cast
8 ingots; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Roy Martin served in the United States Army during
10 the Korean War from 1952 to 1954; after his military duty
11 ended, he returned to work at Alcoa; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Roy Martin has seen changes in the work
13 environment over the years, from changing co-workers to working
14 a variety of different shifts over the years; he has worked in
15 the Mold Shop where he refurbishes molds used to pour ingots
16 and he also sets up the pouring stations used at the casting
17 furnaces; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Roy Martin was originally a union member of The
19 Aluminum Workers Local 105, and today is a lifetime member of
20 United Steelworkers Local 105 in Bettendorf, Iowa; and

1     WHEREAS, Roy Martin is the son of immigrant parents who
2 taught him work ethics; his mother retired after 49 1/2 years
3 and his father retired after working for 34 years; Roy Martin
4 will be enjoying his retirement with his wife, Sharon
5 DeFrieze-Martin, and his son, Kyle Martin; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 congratulate Roy Martin on his retirement from the Alcoa plant
9 in Riverdale, Iowa; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Roy Martin as a symbol of our esteem.
