1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize the students, staff,
4 and faculty of Douglas Taylor Elementary School in Chicago on
5 being honored as one of the ten national 2009 Breakthrough
6 Schools by MetLife Foundation and the National Association of
7 Secondary School Principals; and

8     WHEREAS, The school will receive a $5,000 grant and be
9 featured in the National Association of Secondary School
10 Principals magazine, Principal Leadership; and

11     WHEREAS, The award recognizes schools that are
12 dramatically improving student achievement while serving large
13 numbers of students living in poverty; and

14     WHEREAS, The school principal, Dr. William Truesdale, will
15 participate in the National Association of Secondary School
16 Principals annual convention in February of this year;
17 therefore, be it

18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 congratulate everyone who has made Douglas Taylor Elementary
21 School a great place to learn and grow; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Dr. William Truesdale, principal of Douglas Taylor
3 Elementary School, as a symbol of our respect.
