HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Carol Spielman has served as a member of the Lake County Board, representing District 22, from December of 1992 until December of 2008; and

WHEREAS, Carol Spielman has brought her experience and her knowledge of and interest in local government to bear on a variety of committees and activities while serving on the County Board; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of these abilities, Carol Spielman was selected to serve in a variety of leadership positions, including Chair of the Revenue Committee, and the Records and Legislation Committee (formerly Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee) from 2002 to the present; and

WHEREAS, During her service on the Lake County Board, she has served as Vice-Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, and Rules Committee; and as a member of the Management Services, Taxation and Election Committee, Law and Judicial Committee, Community and Economic Development Committee, and Chairman's Advisory/Legislative Committee; and

WHEREAS, Carol is also a founding member of the Lake County Democratic Women, a grassroots committee devoted to recruiting, educating, leading, mentoring, and supporting women who aspire to seek an elected or appointed office, founded in 2004 by a leadership team of women who are elected officials, past officials, and candidates; and

WHEREAS, Carol also served as a member of the Lake County Board of Health from 2002 to the present, and as a member of the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission from 1992 to the present; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize and commend Carol Spielman for her public service as a member of the Lake County Board and her commitment to her community and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Carol Spielman as a symbol of our sincere respect.
