HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the participants
4 in the Spring 2007 Centralia Clean Community Campaign, on being
5 selected as a Governor's Home Town Award winner; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The Spring 2007 Centralia Clean Community
7 Campaign was part of the larger Great American Cleanup, an
8 event celebrated by Keep America Beautiful affiliate
9 communities each spring; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The Centralia affiliate is called the Centralia
11 Clean & Green or Keep Centralia Beautiful; the affiliate
12 operates the local recycling center, identifies educational
13 programs to combat littering and encourage recycling, tree
14 planting, and city beautification; and
 
15     WHEREAS, In addition to the community cleanup, other events
16 were held, including: Adopt-a-Spot registration, the Arbor Day
17 Tree Sale, City Curbside Pickup, School Neighborhood Cleanups,
18 Litter Bag Distribution, Tire Amnesty Day, and the Liberty
19 Garden Planting; and
 
20     WHEREAS, One in eight people in Centralia participated in
21 one of the events held during the year; and

1     WHEREAS, Clean and Green/Keep Centralia Beautiful and the
2 City of Centralia are committed to continuing the Clean
3 Community Campaigns every year; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate all the participants that worked so hard to keep
7 Centralia a clean community and helped in some way to receive
8 this special award; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to a representative of the Spring 2007 Centralia
11 Clean Community Campaign as a symbol of our respect.
