HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joey
4 "Joe" Marks of Sullivan, who passed away June 17, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joe Marks was born March 12, 1956 in Man, West
6 Virginia; he was a son of Jack Maurice and Ada Vernette
7 (Parsons) Marks; he married Glenda Simmering on June 20, 1981
8 in Sunnyland; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Joe graduated from Rantoul Township High School in
10 1974; he attended Parkland College and transferred to Eastern
11 Illinois University, graduating in 1979 with a B.S. in
12 Education; his teaching and coaching career at Arcola began
13 when he took over as junior high science teacher; his teaching
14 career spanned junior high and high school sciences, and
15 technology director; he continued his education, receiving his
16 Master's Degree in Education Administration; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Joe was the head football coach at Arcola; Joe
18 left Arcola in 2004 to become the Principal of Sullivan Middle
19 School; he was also working towards his Superintendent's
20 Certificate; and
 
21     WHEREAS, In his free time, Joe enjoyed his family, bow

1 hunting, and fly fishing, often combining the three by taking
2 his family on sporting vacations to Bennett Springs, Missouri;
3 Joe always encouraged his children's sports careers, often
4 giving them "coaching" advice at home after games; Joe was a
5 member of the Walnut Grove Christian Church, the Illinois
6 Principals Association, and was a charter member of the World
7 Famous Arcola Lawn Rangers; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Joey Marks is survived by his wife, Glenda Marks;
9 his son, Jordan Michael Marks; his daughter, Jessie Schrock and
10 her husband Nathan; his granddaughter, Julia Ruby-Kay Schrock;
11 and his two brothers, Jack Marks and his wife Dawn, and Jamie
12 Marks and his wife Wendy; his parents preceded him in death;
13 therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Joey
17 "Joe" Marks; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Joey Marks as a symbol of our
20 sincere sympathy.
